CHAMPAIGN — With all the injury news coming out of the Illinois basketball program since July, Friday served as a sort of breath of fresh air as coach John Groce announced some of the injured Illini were on the verge of returning.
Freshman guard Jalen Coleman-Lands, who missed 12 weeks in the summer with a stress fracture in his leg, has practiced this week on a limited basis and was expected to increase his workload in Friday’s team workout.
“We’ll have him, hopefully, available to us on Sunday,” Groce said.
The Illini play an exhibition game Sunday against UI-Springfield at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, their temporary home until the State Farm Center renovations are complete in time for the Dec.
