Cobras volleyball falters in title match

CHARLESTON, W. Va. — A chance to exact revenge against Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College and win a national title presented itself for Parkland volleyball on Saturday night.

But top seed Coffeyville swept No. 2 Parkland 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 to win the NJCAA Division II national championship.

Coffeyville handed Parkland (56-3) two of its losses this season, and the Cobras weren't able to shake the Red Ravens again.

Ryleigh Warfel compiled 12 kills to pace Parkland's offense, with Amanda Greening (seven kills) and Maggie Sorenson (14 digs) each contributing, but it wasn't enough.

Warfel and Parkland setter Rachel Verdun each found a spot on the all-tournament team to represent the Cobras.
