Change proves good for Ram

BOGOTA, Colombia — If you’re not Mike or Bob Bryan and you play doubles tennis professionally, the odds are you’ve gone through a playing partner or two or 10.

The Bryans are the exception to the rule. The identical twins from California have held the No. 1 doubles ranking in the world jointly for 425 consecutive weeks — longer than anyone in doubles history — finished as the ATP year-end No. 1 a record 10 times and won 16 Grand Slam doubles titles and the 2012 Olympic gold.

Longtime playing partners in doubles are rare. Former Illini and 2003 NCAA doubles champion Rajeev Ram played this week at the Claro Open in Bogota with Treat Huey, his eighth different partner this season.
