URBANA — A final report on an external investigation into the University of Illinois football program should be completed in the next few weeks, interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson said today.
“I don’t have a date. I’m told soon,” she said in an interview with The News-Gazette on Tuesday.
Wilson, who stepped in after Phyllis Wise resigned as chancellor in August, said she hasn’t received updates since the interim report was released in August, which led to the firing of head football coach Tim Beckman. Officials said the preliminary revealed efforts to deter injury reporting and pressure players to avoid or postpone medical treatment.
