Canelo Alvarez defeated Daniel Jacobs by unanimous decision Saturday night in a middleweight world title unification bout.
The fight took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The judges scored the bout 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112, all for Alvarez.
Controversy preceded the bout Saturday morning when Jacobs badly missed weight at a contractually agreed upon weight check, coming in at 173.6 pounds, well over the 170-pound rehydration limit the fighters had in their contract. Alvarez was 169 pounds, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya told ESPN.
Jacobs, who won the vacant IBF middleweight title in October, was still eligible to win Alvarez's WBA and WBC belts but will take a financial hit for missing weight.
