CHAMPAIGN — Two years ago, when asked how long he planned to play basketball professionally, Illinois great Dee Brown said: “Until my ankles fall off.”
Thankfully for Brown, his ankles are still intact. But the former Big Ten Player of the Year and first-team All-American is in the twilight of his career, preparing to say “Goodbye” to the game he loves.
“Mid-August I go back overseas and play my last year and after that we’ll go from there,” said Brown, who played in the NBA with the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns before playing the last seven years in Europe, most recently in Bulgaria.
