CHAMPAIGN — Dee Brown isn’t a college basketball coach.
Not yet, at least, but his presence on the Illinois staff in the newly-created position of director of player development and alumni relations could have a real effect on the present and future of the Illini.
Brown’s new job description includes working with the current team by coordinating video materials and providing off-the-court guidance to the players. He’ll also engage with other basketball alumni in attempt to strengthen that bond.
But the contributions the former Illinois point guard can make in on-campus recruiting could be his among his most important functions.
