Border rivals Illinois, Missouri have plan in place for future meetings

CHAMPAIGN — Unlike the longstanding series on the men's basketball side, women's basketball games between Illinois and Missouri have yet to become something fans can count on every year.

But, there is mutual interest to have the nonconference game become a regular fixture on future schedules.

When Illinois (8-2) hosts Missouri (9-3) at noon today inside State Farm Center, it will mark the second consecutive meeting between the two border state foes, and according to Illini second-year coach Nancy Fahey, "it's a standing agreement" to have the series continue beyond this season.

"I know it's something that Illinois and Mizzou want to do together, and we definitely are right on board with it," Fahey said.
