CHAMPAIGN — A stop for ice cream was the post-news conference plan for the Illinois women’s basketball coaching staff on Wednesday afternoon. They were in a celebratory mood, having announced the signing of four players for the Class of 2016.
It’s not a class that ranks among the top in the country. The Big Ten has the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation in Maryland, while Michigan State (11th) and Michigan (20th) are also in the Top 20.
Illinois’ Class of 2016, though, is one coach Matt Bollant feels is much like the Illini’s current freshman class.
