This isn’t breaking news, but, you know, Illinois’ MVP is the best player in the Big Ten.
Junior punter Blake Hayes was named Big Ten Punter of the Year Tuesday night, as well as earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors. This was obvious after Hayes’ incredible punt against Purdue and just unmatched efforts all season (again), but it’s nice to see the recognition.
From the DIA, Hayes averaged the second-most yards per punt in Illinois history (44.8) this year, as well as finishing second in the conference in punting average. He also had 28 punts inside the 20 and just two touchbacks.
