CHAMPAIGN — Leron Black’s felony pretrial date of April 19 has been vacated, and the Illinois sophomore forward could enter into a diversion program following his February arrest, Champaign County court records show. Counsel for the state and Black agreed to the move Friday.
An initial diversion hearing has been set for April 21.
Black, 20, was arrested Feb. 18 for allegedly pulling a knife on a bouncer at an Urbana nightclub and suspended indefinitely by Illinois coach John Groce. Black was charged the next day with aggravated assault, a Class 4 felony.
