CHAMPAIGN — The start of the second half could have featured a major stumbling block for Illinois football on Saturday afternoon. Minnesota had all the momentum at Memorial Stadium after Del'Shawn Phillips' fumble recovery and ensuing touchdown was overturned.
It was a 10-point swing at the end of the first half. The Gophers had the ball to start the second. And lost opporunties had proven worrisome for Illinois already this season (see Penn State's 42 unanswered points in what turned into a blowout Illini loss).
But the Illini rallied. Got a stop. Scored a touchdown. Forced a turnover and scored another.
