Best of Illini: No. 1, Wes Lunt

CHAMPAIGN — Kirk Ferentz saw Wes Lunt at less than his best last November.

The Iowa coach and his Hawkeyes were the first team Lunt faced after the Illinois quarterback recovered from a fractured fibula in his left leg, an injury he suffered during the Illini’s loss against Purdue in early October.

Yet when Illinois visits Iowa City in October for the program’s first game against the Hawkeyes at Kinnick Stadium since 2007, the dean of Big Ten coaches is expecting a different version of Lunt.

“He’s a good quarterback,” Ferentz said. “He can throw the football, obviously, but beyond that he’s a good quarterback.
