CHAMPAIGN — The crowd was upbeat. And so was the coach.
If Tim Beckman is feeling any anxiety about the investigation into his football program, he sure didn’t show it during Wednesday’s Illini Quarterback Club Meet ’N Greet.
The second-year event was again held at Champaign’s Lincolnshire Fields Country Club.
Beckman arrived early outside the club, shaking hands and talking to fans.
With microphone in hand at the front of the room, Beckman opened by getting “commitments” from some of the younger audience members.
“How old are you?” Beckman asked a 12-year-old.
Beckman then turned to assistant coach Alex Golesh, who said the youngster would be part of the Class of 2028.
