CHAMPAIGN — Last time we saw Reilly O’Toole on the football field, he was leading Illinois as quarterback in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Next time we see the former News-Gazette All-State Player of the Year, he will be coaching them on it.
Illinois coach Tim Beckman announced Wednesday night that O’Toole is joining the team as a graduate assistant. The part-time starter in 2014 will work with offensive coordinator Bill Cubit and assistant Mike Bellamy.
“I called three former football players who have been involved in this football program because I thought they would be great fits for our offense,” Beckman said.
