CARBONDALE — April was a perfect month for coach Dan Hartleb’s No. 6 Illinois baseball team.
The Illini, led by David Kerian and Matthew James, defeated Southern Illinois 7-5 on Tuesday night.
Illinois extended its school-record winning streak to 18 games and finished 16-0 in April.
Kerian and James each drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Rob McDonnell, who struck out six, allowed three runs on six hits in six innings.
