ST. CATHERINES, Canada — Ayo Dosunmu made it clear during the U18 U.S. National Team tryouts that proving his worth as a defender was a matter of pride.
He made that even more clear during Sunday night's opening round of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, when the five-star recruit and Illinois signee supplied Team USA with a quick and controlled presence on defense in its 105-73 victory over Dominican Republic.
Dosunmu scored seven points with four assists and two rebounds, making 3 of 5 from the field as well as his lone free throw. His contributions, though, were undoubtedly more evident on the defensive end of the floor.
