He is the most important Illinois football recruit in years. And living up to the hype.
St. Louis Trinity quarterback Isaiah Williams opened the season with 303 passing yards and another 76 on the ground in a loss to Colquitt County (Ga.).
The next week, in a 32-26 overtime loss to East St. Louis, Williams threw for 218 with two TD passes. He had another 149 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.
The difficult early schedule was by design.
"The last couple seasons, we played local teams that didn't have the skillset or the talent the first couple teams we played had," first-year Trinity coach Terrence Curry said.
