Somebody needs to remind Rick Stockstill that you aren’t supposed to give the money back.
But that’s just what the Middle Tennessee football coach did earlier this spring, delaying his annual $100,000 raise to help his school cover the cost of attendance for athletes.
“I wanted to do anything I could to make sure our players got the benefit that they deserved,” Stockstill said.
The idea first came to Stockstill in the December recruiting season. He was hearing a lot of questions about the school’s plans to pay the cost of attendance, a new standard that will raise both the value of a scholarship and the cost.
