Having a rough spring? People picking on your athletic program?
Illinois found a solution Tuesday: hire a hero.
Nathan Scheelhaase, the Illini career total offense leader and one of the best kids to ever play at the school, is joining Tim Beckman’s program as assistant director of football operations.
His starting date: ASAP.
Scheelhaase finished his Illinois career in 2013. He didn’t take a shot at pro football, choosing instead to go into youth ministry.
Beckman approached Scheelhaase about the job a year ago.
And came back to him when Juice Williams left for a position at Georgetown, where his wife was hired as a law professor.
