LEXINGTON, Ky. — When she first arrives at John Cropp Stadium today, Illinois senior pitcher Taylor Edwards will go hunting.
Not for strikeouts or pop flies.
Greener than those. And harder to find.
She'll be looking for four-leaf clovers.
The Arcola native started the tradition earlier in her Illini career. Edwards has found the genetic mutations (her words) at fields across the country.
She doesn't pick the four-leaf clover and toss it back to nature. She actually wears it during the game on her arm.
After the game, she presses the four-leaf clover into a scrapbook she keeps.
