I have talked to Super Bowl players before. Lots of them. Howard Griffith, Jameel Cook, Simeon Rice, Eugene Wilson, Greg Lewis, Kelvin Hayden, Dave Diehl and Pierre Thomas to name a few.
But never during Super Bowl week.
Until now.
At 7 p.m. on Monday former Illini Ted Karras called from Atlanta. He was riding on the Patriots team bus after a long day of workouts and meetings.
"The schedule has been so crazy down here," Karras said.
Karras sounded excited. Makes perfect sense.
Today, No. 75 suits up for his third consecutive Super Bowl.
