JERSEYVILLE — His team trailed Mattoon 12-4 in the fifth inning of Friday’s Senior American Legion division championship, but Danville Post 210 coach Allan Shepherd wasn’t worried.
Huge comebacks, after all, aren’t irregular the team. Just ask Terre Haute, which led Danville 10-2 but lost 13-12. Or even Mattoon, which led Danville 8-1 earlier in the season before falling 16-8.
Friday’s game against Mattoon wasn’t do or die — Danville remained undefeated in the double-elimination tournament — but that didn’t seem to matter.
“They didn’t want to play Saturday morning,” Shepherd said. “The team never stops.
