CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Andy Fisher came into this weekend series against Indiana just how you would want any pitcher — strong and confident. Fisher ended the top of the first with a quick 1-2-3. And he continued to throw eight shutout innings, leading Illinois to beat No. 19 Indiana at Illinois Field on Friday night.
“Every win is a big win” said Head Coach Dan Hartleb.
Indiana’s right hand pitcher Pauly Milto also came out strong, giving the Illini’s offense and Fisher a challenge. It turned into a pitcher’s duel as both Milto and Fisher were effective, both pitching a shutout through five innings until Jack Yalowitz came home from the help of Korte’s flyout to centerfield, scoring the first run of the night and ending Milto’s shutout.
