CHAMPAIGN — Allegations of player abuse surfaced with Monday’s announcement that LaKale Malone was promoted to associate head coach of the Illinois women’s basketball team and Mike Divilbiss, who previously held that position, had resigned.
“I think they should all be gone, actually,” said Pete Gleason, whose daughter Taylor transferred from Illinois to Oakland this spring. “I don’t think it’s all just Divilbiss. It’s from the top down.”
Gleason is one of four players to leave the program, including Jacqui Grant, Amarah Coleman and Alexis Smith.
“Obviously it’s a start in the right direction,” Pete Gleason continued.
