AD search has yet to begin

URBANA — With speculation rampant about the next University of Illinois athletic director, campus officials have yet to decide on a search committee, a search consultant or a time frame for the process.

The university has not issued a request for proposals from executive search firms who could advise administrators on a new athletic director, spokeswoman Robin Kaler said Wednesday.

"Nothing has been decided yet," Kaler said. "The timeline has not been set."

However, Atlanta-based Parker Executive Search — the firm the UI paid when it hired former Athletic Director Mike Thomas and men's basketball Coach John Groce — does have a two-year contract with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics to "provide support during employment search processes on an as-needed basis.
