CHAMPAIGN — Allegations of abuse and mistreatment concerning the Illinois football program came to light nine days ago amid a flurry of claims made by former Illini Simon Cvijanovic.
A week after that, The News-Gazette obtained letters from three families of women's basketball players levying serious accusations against coach Matt Bollant and former Illinois assistant coach Mike Divilbiss.
The university is currently conducting an independent investigation into Cvijanovic's allegations, with an internal investigation already having taken place into the claims made by the families of Taylor Tuck, Taylor Gleason and Jacqui Grant.
Athletic director Mike Thomas left the Big Ten meetings in Chicago on Tuesday without speaking to reporters, but he met with The News-Gazette on Tuesday afternoon inside the Bielfeldt Athletic Administration Building on campus.
