CHAMPAIGN — Mike Thomas was supposed to spend Tuesday in Rosemont at the Big Ten meetings.
But when allegations against the Illinois women’s basketball team broke Monday, Thomas returned to campus earlier than planned.
Thomas met with The News-Gazette for 15 minutes in a Bielfeldt Building conference room on Tuesday afternoon.
He was joined by UI spokeswoman Robin Kaler, who was there to answer campus-related questions about the pending investigation into the football program and the ongoing look into the women’s basketball program.
The football investigation follows allegations last week by former Illini offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic against Tim Beckman.
