The Vandals got the scoring going early with a corner kick in the seventh minute. placed the ball perfectly in front of the goal giving Foster a wide-open header which went just over the UCSD goalkeeper's outstretched hands.
The goal kicked off an aggressive first half for Idaho. The Vandals outshot UCSD 11-3 and had a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks at the break.
