BANDON, Ore.- Idaho men's golf shot 12-over Sunday, and sits in 12th place after the first day of action at the Bandon Dunes Championship. The Vandals were led by Enrique Marin's even-par 71. The tournament continues with the second round Monday, and concludes with the final 18 holes Tuesday.
"There is improvement that has been made incrementally and we're starting to see those strides," said head coach David Nuhn. "Our bad golf is getting much better. We are really close to playing great golf as a team."
Nuhn said poor chipping and too many three putts left the Vandals at 12-over, but their ability to make 53 pars and just two double bogeys from counting scores kept them within striking distance of a loaded field that includes six top-100 teams.
