MISSOULA, Montana -- The Idaho women's soccer team came up just short in its bid to repeat as Big Sky Tournament champions on Sunday. Second-seed Idaho and fifth-seed Sacramento State battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtime periods, and it took nine rounds of penalty kicks for the Hornets to edge the Vandals in the shootout, 8-7.
The Vandals (12-5-3) controlled much of the game before shootout, but simply couldn't come up with a goal. Idaho held a 22-9 advantage in shots, including 7-5 in shots on goal, and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.
