PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.—Idaho junior Marianna Petrei's run at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships came to a close on Saturday. Petrei advanced to the consolation semifinals after a run of wins over ranked opponents.
Petrei matched up with 19th-ranked Lily Miyazaki of Oklahoma in the second semifinal match. The back-to-back Big Sky MVP continued to impress against higher-ranked opponents. She took the early momentum in the match, winning the first set 7-6(5). Miyazaki came back in the second set with a 6-4 win to even the match. The Oklahoma senior edged out Petrei in a tightly contested third set, 7-5.
