LEWISTON, Idaho— Idaho men's tennis fell 5-2 to Sacramento State during Big Sky Conference opener Saturday afternoon.
While the Hornets won the double points, Idaho started the match with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 position by Valentin Popescu and Lucas Coutinho. Visiting team, Sac State, responded by taking the first and third position, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.
In singles action, Idaho clinched wins with Popescu and Esteban Santibanez. The Hornets kept control of the match as No. 4 singles finished in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Popescu kept the Vandals alive as he handed Don Miller a 6-2, 6-3 rout.
