SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Rechelle Meade has been recognized as the 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year, as announced by the league offices on Monday.
The award is new this year and reflects not only points scored at the championship event but also quality of performance.
Meade took broke her own school record to take second in the long jump, leaping 6.17 meters (20-3.00). She followed that up with another second team All-Big Sky performance in the high jump, clearing 1.76 meters (5-9.25).
She had previously broken the school record on April 29 at the Oregon State High Performance Meet, where she jumped 6.
