University of Idaho President Chuck Staben announced Pete Isakson as the interim director of athletics Friday.
Isakson held the role of acting athletic director since former athletic director Rob Spear was put on administrative leave April 3.
“I appreciate the patience of our student-athletes, coaches and staff members through what has been a challenging time,” Staben said in a news release. “I know Vandals strive for excellence in sports and in the classroom, and we are excited about the direction of our athletics program.”
Isakson will be interim athletic director through the remainder of Staben’s time as UI president, and it will be in the hands of the next president to select the permanent athletic director, Staben said.
