SALT LAKE CITY—Idaho women's tennis is midway through the ITA Mountain Regional hosted by the University of Utah. Junior Marianna Petrei is into the round of 16 in the singles bracket, while a pair of doubles teams have advanced into the round of 16.
Five of Idaho's representatives won their opening match on Wednesday. Laura Sparato got Idaho off to a solid start with a quick 6-2, 6-0 win over Weber State's Dominque Beauvais. Maria Tavares, Lucia Badillos, Maggie Chen and Shion Watabe each picked up first round wins to move on in the bracket.
