SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Sophie Hausmann fired a closing-round 65 Thursday to capture medalist honors at The Gold Rush and help lead the University of Idaho women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Old Ranch Club.
"The most impressive thing about Sophie this week was she played without fear," said coach Lisa Johnson after Hausmann broke the Old Ranch Club 18-hole record with her 65 and The Gold Rush record with her 12-under total.
So, too, did her teammates, who responded to Hausmann's Tuesday morning team challenge: to make 15 birdies.
