Hausmann wins German Amateur

University of Idaho sophomore-to be Sophie Hausmann won the German International Ladies Amateur Golf Championship over the weekend with a one-stroke victory over Czechoslovakia's Marie Lunackova and by two over fellow German's Maike Schlender and Ester Henseleit.

Hausmann, the reigning Big Sky Conference champion and the league's Freshman of the Year, led from start to finish but had to fend off the challenges of Lunackova, Schlender and Henseleit during the final day.

She finished the tournament at two-under 286 after rounds of 70-71-72-73 – with the final two rounds both played on Saturday. The field of 110 included players from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Finland, France, Italy, Russia, Belgium and Iceland.
