MOSCOW, Idaho—Idaho junior guard Mikayla Ferenz has been named the College Sports Madness National Mid-Major Women's Basketball Player of the Week the website announced on Monday.
Ferenz, a Walla Walla, Wash., native, averaged 24.0 points per game last week, helping Idaho improve to 6-3 in the Big Sky. The Vandals' road sweep of Northern Colorado and North Dakota was just the second time a Big Sky team has gone 2-0 on that trip since 2012.
Ferenz opened the week with 33 points in Idaho's 79-71 win at UNC. It was her fourth 33-point game of the season and her sixth 30-point effort of the year.
