Martin Samuelsen was pleased to help smooth Hull City’s passage through to the knockout stages of the Papa John’s Trophy with a two-goal display in a 3-0 victory over Grimsby Town.
Samuelsen scored a sublime first and a poacher’s second, and could have had a hat-trick had a late penalty not been saved – not that he was letting that spoil his evening.
“I was very pleased with the performance and the goals, and what the team did in the game,” said Samuelsen.
“Personally, I felt that I built on the performance that I put in against Harrogate last week.
