Hull City will allow Ryan Mason to make the decision on whether he plays again when he sees a third specialist on Monday.
The career of the 26-year-old is in doubt after two doctors gave different opinions on him returning to action following the fractured skull he suffered in a clash of heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill in January.
Mason has been training all summer with a view to making a competitive comeback for the Championship club, who he joined for £10million last August.
But there is now a chance that Mason will be told it is safer if he retires from the game.
