Hull City equalled their worst ever run in the Premier League as Michael Dawson's late own goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat against Watford and a sixth consecutive loss.
This defeat was cruel after the Tigers withstood all that Watford had to throw at them and then created the best chance of the game when Abel Hernandez was sent clear through on goal. A failure to capitalise and then the slice of misfortune at the opposite end ensured all of the Tigers' improvements were in vain. Close but no cigar.
Positives
Unlike the pathetic surrender at Bournemouth and the tepid loss at home to Stoke, Mike Phelan's men at least showed a willingness to mask their technical shortcomings with discipline and commitment across the side.
