Grant McCann was pleased to get the job done as Hull City secured a 2-0 win at Harrogate in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Two goals in the final 15 minutes from substitute James Scott and captain-for-the-night Callum Jones earned the Tigers their first win in Northern Group H.
League Two newcomers Harrogate proved stubborn opposition, with the visitors creating and spurning an abundance of chances before eventually making the breakthrough.
And McCann was pleased his side’s persistence eventually paid off.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game because they play in a certain way and it’s difficult to stop sometimes," said McCann.
