Grant McCann says the “outstanding” George Honeyman epitomises what his Hull City side is about.
The 26-year-old has played an instrumental role in the Tigers’ perfect start to life in League One, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
The midfielder set up both goals in the opening-day win at Gillingham and created another at Northampton before netting himself in another 2-0 victory.
The ex-Sunderland man captained the team at Sixfields, and the boss says giving him the armband was just reward for his performances.
“George has been outstanding,” said McCann. “He’s been outstanding since we came back from lockdown – the last nine games (of last season) he was outstanding and he’s taken that into this season.
