Iain Hume knew Ryan Mason was in trouble the moment he saw the Hull midfielder's sickening collision with Gary Cahill, but the former Barnsley forward believes he can fully recover from the injury.
Mason was immediately rushed from Stamford Bridge to London's St Mary's Hospital for emergency surgery after colliding with the Chelsea defender during Hull's 2-0 defeat on Sunday.
The former Tottenham midfielder is now in a stable condition, sitting up and talking less than 48 hours after the incident that led to him sustaining a fractured skull.
The clash of heads reminded Hume of his own traumatic encounter with Sheffield United's Chris Morgan in November 2008 during his time with Barnsley in the Championship.
