Hull lift the gloom with Leicester shock... but only for 90 minutes as sour mood won't disappear until Allams are out

It said everything about the atmosphere at Hull City that the visiting fans on the opening day of the new Premier League season received a far warmer greeting than the Yorkshire club's owners.

The predictable protests against the Allam family were multifaceted and fuelled by emotion but anger did not blind supporters when Leicester's contingent sang about being champions of England early on during the game.

Hearing the words, Hull's fans reacted by applauding generously in recognition of a remarkable feat. For the people that run the club there was no such good will.

So loathed are they now that as kick-off approached Hull staff were frantically attempting to clean away graffiti reading 'Allams Out' that had been sprayed on the walls and doors of the KCOM Stadium.
