Michael Dawson is paid primarily to stop the opposition but it is the defender’s goals which are keeping Hull City off bottom right now.

The skipper was the match-winner last time out here at the KCOM Stadium during the come-from-behind 2-1 win over Southampton.

And Dawson was again the home hero as he salvaged a point to deny West Brom a third straight win and an unlikely ascent into European territory.

Tony Pulis’ side had looked set for victory after dominating a first half in which Gareth McAuley gave them a deserved lead.
