Former Hull boss Mike Phelan was a special guest on talkSPORT on Monday and gave his backing and support to Ryan Mason.

The midfielder, who was signed by Phelan during his time at the KCOM Stadium, underwent surgery on a fractured skull on Sunday following a sickening clash of heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill.

Phelan says it is important Mason now takes his time to recover physically and mentally from the horror injury, but believes the 25-year-old will resume his playing career.
