Scans have confirmed that Callum Elder tore medial knee ligaments during Hull City’s final game of the season against Charlton Athletic last weekend.
The Australian left back departed the action at The Valley after being fouled in the 34th minute, and the injury will sadly deny him the opportunity to make his senior international debut next month when Australia face Kuwait, Chinese Taipei, Nepal and Jordan in 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Elder, who made 48 appearances during the 2020/21 season, will instead undergo rehab on his injury over the summer and will return for pre-season training with the rest of the first team squad.
