The main positive from Hull City’s Papa John’s Trophy exit against Lincoln City was the performance of midfielder Greg Docherty.
Described as “immense” by Head Coach Grant McCann, the 24-year-old produced a typically dynamic display and scored a delightful individual goal.
Collecting Josh Magennis’ lay-off, the Scot drove between two Lincoln defenders and evaded a further three challenges before drilling left footed into the bottom corner from 15 yards.
“I just saw a gap and went for it,” admitted Docherty.
“With my defensive head on, I thought if someone was running at me on a night like that it would be hard to stop.
